Hi! This is Nadya, my beautiful and amazing 7 year old domestic shorthair. I adopted her six years ago, and we have been inseparable since. Earlier this year I noticed she had lost some weight, took her to the vet, and after a series of exams and tests concluded she has small cell lymphoma of the spleen. According to the sonographer who initially did her ultrasound, she has the “largest spleen” the have ever seen in a cat. Thus, chemotherapy and steroidal treatment likely will not totally eliminate the disease. She needs surgery, to remove her spleen (which would hopefully remove more than 90% of the disease). My partner and I are both students, working full time, and have already blew through most of our savings to get her the beginnings of her treatment. We are currently not in a financial position (yet) to go forward with surgery. The cost we were quoted from the University of Wisconsin surgical team was around $6,000 for a total splenectomy. We are hoping to find some help from other animal lovers, friends, and family. Together we can raise the money to get our girl the treatment she needs, to live a long and happy life. The prognosis for small cell lymphoma is multiple years of life once treated, meaning she could live a full cats lifespan. She is my angel and whole world, and any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to look at our fundraiser, and Nadya and I wish you all the best.
