Update! 3/13/25
Nacho had his eye surgery on 3/6/25, and spent 4 nights at the vet afterwards. He's is home and recovering well. He will go back on 3/20/25 to have his stitches removed. The next step is going to be dental work for all of his broken teeth, which i have no idea on an estime yet, besides the vet saying it will be more then the eye surgery. I will keep everyone updated!
Update! 1/20/2025 I brought nacho to another vet for an exam and estimate on his eye surgery. The estimate is 2,229.55 cents. The vet said his dental work will most likely be more. Right now I'm focused on his eye surgery and will be making the appointment for it on Wednesday when we go back to have the staples removed from his face from the abcess. After whats already been donated, and what had been used so far, there is 725 left still to go towards the eye surgery. So there's still a ways to go! Please continue to share nacho and his story!
Update! Nacho had his first surgery's today 1/2/2025. During his exam, he was found to have double ear infections, which the vet said were probably chronic, and one ear drum had burst from it. That is what caused the abscess on his face. His ears were thoroughly cleaned. His eye socket was also flushed out and cleaned. The abscess on his face was lanced, drained and stitched up. He was also neutered, microchipped and given his vaccines. He was sent home with antibiotics for his ears, abscess and eye. He will need a second surgery for his eye, which will be more extensive then what was done today to close up his eye socket. He will also need x rays to see how bad his teeth are and if he needs any extractions. They said most teeth were broken. He's recovering now but still an absolute sweetheart cuddling and purring!
Nacho is a stray cat we have been feeding for at least a year. We didn't know we were feeding 2 almost identical orange cats until nacho lost an eye. Both cats always ran when we got near. During the bitterly cold weather we put out a heating pad to try and help, and then started putting his bowls right inside the doorway to try and warm him up. He started coming in to eat. When I put food down for him a few days ago and I put my hand out for him to smell me, he started rubbing my hand and kissing me. I tried to pet him and he arched his back. I sat down with him and he came over and laid down next to me, climbed on my lap and started purring. I knew at that moment he needed my help more then I originally thought. We brought him in and set him up in a crate in an area away from our cats, and I made an appointment at the vet for him. As of right now my estimate is 1000. Shots, exam, tests, bloodwork, neuter and eye surgery. And this is all without them even seeing him, which means there is a likelihood that it will be more. I want to do what's right for this cat, but can not afford this on my own. Please help nacho have the best life going forward. He only has 1 eye, 1 ear and half of the other, barely and teeth most are broken. Scabs and scars covering his whole body. He deserves more then this.
