Give Moxie a Chance to Overcome Cancer

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Ty, and I'm reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for help for my best friend, my dog, Moxie. He’s been with me through the hardest chapters of my life, offering love, comfort, and a kind of companionship I never knew I needed so deeply. I’ve never felt a pull toward parenthood in the traditional sense, but loving and caring for Moxie has shown me what that kind of unconditional love feels like. He’s my family, my reason to get up some mornings, and I’d do anything to keep him safe.

For some time now Moxie has had a lump on his leg. The first vet I brought him to with concerns told me that this was nothing to be concerned of, and that this was just a fatty cyst. Over time, this did not sit well with me and I brought him to a second vet for another opinion, and the new vet immediately said it was of concern and wanted to test it. The new vet performed a fine needle aspiration test and unfortunately today they let me know they confirmed this lump on his leg was a cancerous mast cell tumor. Now that this was confirmed as cancerous, we need to have surgery as soon as possible to reduce the risk of having this spread anywhere else. The vets also are going to remove a few other lumps he has to be safe in case any of these are cancerous as well, and send them all off for further testing to confirm how we need to best treat his cancer after removal.

This isn’t his first battle. When he was a puppy, somebody dumped him and his mom and they were picked up by a shelter. I fell in love with him instantly and took him home. Three days after we took him home from the shelter he started showing signs of being sick. He ended up being diagnosed with parvo at 9 weeks old. He survived that. Later, when he was 4 years old he needed surgery to remove a rapidly growing non-cancerous mass on his rib, which then left him without that rib. The surgery was 50:50 on survival due to how invasive it was, and he survived that too. Now at 6 years old, he has another battle ahead for him. Through every challenge, Moxie has fought bravely, and I’ve been right there with him, just as he’s always been there for me. He’s survived everything else and I know he will survive this too.

I can’t express how much I’ve leaned on Moxie during the hardest times of my life. When I was struggling mentally, emotionally, and even financially, he was always there—offering unconditional love, comfort, and companionship.
This surgery gives us hope for more time together, more walks, more play time, and more memories. Anything you can give—no matter how small—will go directly toward his surgery, treatment, and recovery. If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this campaign. It would mean the world to me and Moxie. Thank you for reading and for supporting us through this.

With gratitude,
Ty
