Moses needs help! This former community cat showed up with a massively infected back left leg. It took a little time to find the right antibiotic, but now he's been diagnosed with septic arthritis. His leg is permanently contracted, and his bones are a mess. He's responding well to his current antibiotic, but his tendons and permanently contracted in his left hind leg, and he will not regain function.
Moses needs an expensive amputation, which will cost $1100; a biopsy of that leg for $200; pre-surgical blood work and consult, and he'll need sedation for the consult; and likely a jaw X-ray to see what's going on there. I'm still down $497 from his previous costs as well. His antibiotic, which he needs to be on for 6-8 weeks total, is $108 each time we fill it, but he hadn't responded to previous antibiotics and responded immediately to this one.
I'm pretty sure this boy was dumped young. He doesn't show as feral, despite being under socialized, and he's very talkative. He also doesn't have the outdoor survival skills of a cat who was raised by a feral mama. Someone failed this boy hard when he was younger, and given his reaction to hands, I suspect he may also have been abused.
He's slowly socializing with his foster and he likes me. We have a socializing foster for him longer term, but we have to get him healthy enough first, and through all his medical treatments.
Moses is the priciest rescue I've ever pulled, and this wasn't planned, but I couldn't leave him outside to die a gruesome death. He's doing much better now, and he's found the love of his life in his comfy cat bad. We just need the funds to be able to proceed with his remaining treatments so we can get him healed enough to make the journey up to Boston to start his new life as a purely inside boy.
Please help us give this boy a chance and the life he deserves!
