Hello, my name is Darien and this morning we learned that my cat Moon Pie has a hernia in her diaphragm.
At about midnight on 11/25 I noticed Moon Pie stand up and immediately layback down, open mouth breathing. I rushed her to the ER vet where she has since stayed the night in order to be seen by their cardiologist and then oncologist. After being able to rule out heart failure and cancer, it was discovered she has a hernia on her diaphragm that caused fluid to move into her chest cavity. Unfortunately she is now considered a clinical case and surgery to repair the hernia is necessary to save her life.
She is only two years old, she has so much more life to live and I’m not ready to give up on her.
If you have anything you can spare, I would be eternally grateful. Funds are very tight, and I recently learned I will be losing my job at the end of December. I’ve set the goal for the minimum amount needed to schedule the surgery at VSC in Bannockburn IL. Unfortunately my primary vet does not offer this surgery, though I’m researching possible alternatives. Ultimately my priority is getting her quality care and a fighting chance.
Thank you,
Darien and Moon Pie
