Hi everybody…

My name is Mince. I’m a 7 week old Bernese Mountain Dog. My mom, Mary Pearson, thought my heart felt like it was beating funny in my chest when she held me, so she took me to the vet. I was diagnosed with a congenital grade 6 heart murmur. They tell me a grade 6 means that you can hear it without a stethoscope and feel it as my heart beats.

My mom says I’m too special to let me go to another family and she and my other mom (Bethany, Mary’s daughter) want to get me the best treatment possible.

Bethany is moving the Sacramento soon, so they are trying to get me an appointment with UC Davis canine cardiology clinic. My local vet thinks that I’ll need surgery to have a chance at living longer than a few years, and that surgery is VERY expensive. My moms are looking for some help because surgery can cost $25,000 or more.

If you can spare a few dollars and then share my story, my moms have been breeding companion and show Bernese since 2008 and I’m the first that’s had a congenital condition. They are devastated, but are going to do everything possible to help me be healthy for as long as possible.
