My furbaby, Mickey, had his 1st surgery on Monday, December 15th. I have been through the other organizations that say maybe they will help but there is a waiting period and unfortunately he can't wait. I have his itemized bill, and the surgery is taking place in Minooka. I run a local food pantry and do not get paid for it. I also volunteer at the VFW, and again I don't get paid. If you can help out or know of anyone, I have posted the itemized invoice. Please, this isn't a gift for me, but a second chance for my boy. My heart is breaking from just having to put his mama down last month.

Update on Mickey Mouse.
He has a dural compression of his spine at T13, L1,L2 and L3, and 4. He will need a hemilaminectomy.
A hemilamenctomy is a spinal surgery where a surgeon removes only part of the lamina (the back part of the vertebra) on one side of the spine, creating more space in the spinal canal to relieve pressure and compressed nerves., typically used to treat conditions like a herniated disk or spinal stenosis, causing pain and numbness in the legs.; essentially it's a 1/2 lamenectomy only removing part of the lamina instead of the whole structure and each side of the vertebra. In other words it opens up the spinal canal so the nerves aren't pinched. He had a very good chance for a full recovery.
This requires a specialized vet and neurological team. We have been given several options on where to have this done. We, of course are checking out their backgrounds. Right now the cost we are facing is $9000-$12,000. I know it's a lot of money, but there's no way I'm just going to let him die, because I am in the service of volunteering my time to others in need and I am not able to help him.
Mickey has persevered through everything. He was born deaf and blind and that didn't stop him from being the smartest boy I ever had. And now he needs surgery that can correct his condition. I just can't sit there and watch him die after all the unconditional love he has given me.
I know it's the holidays and times are difficult. But if I can find it in my heart to stand outside for 52 weeks and pass out food to perfect strangers, please find it in your heart to help Mickey and give him that second chance he deserves.

Update on Mickey Mouse
Mickeys case has now turned into URGENT/ EMERGENCY. Honest we didn't pick the holiday season for all heck to break loose. Mickey needs to be brought in and have surgery as soon as possible to prevent permanent paralysis. This is going to be extremely costly. I know many of you have been kind and generous, but please, it's the end of the year, not the end of his life. He's a good boy, he's a smart boy and he's this mama's boy. Please help us reach our current goal. Anyone that knows me, knows there isn't anything I wouldn't do to help a perfect stranger. Isn't that what the holiday is all about? I believe in God the Almighty, I believe in Angels and I believe in Miracles. Let's all make this a season of miracles for Mickey so he can walk again. I can't do this without your help. Mickey won't be able to walk without your help and the neurosurgeon says he will be paralyzed in the very near future without this life saving surgery. He will go down hill very quick. Can you please help again and keep sharing? Know that you were capable of saving a life and you did everything possible to do it. My Christmas wont be merry and bright, but it will be spent with Mickey at the neurological vet praying for a miracle.
