Hi, I'm Matt's mom, Sandy. Almost 5 years ago, in 2020, Matt had his knee crushed in a work accident. For the next few years, he was in and out of the hospital with 9 surgeries, including two knee replacements, trying to save his leg.

Matt is co-parenting two teenage boys with special needs, who he was not able to have close by during Covid.

In 2023, complications with a dangerous infection led to an amputation, surgery #11. Many months were spent in rehab, but Matt said the removal of the constant pain was a gift.

April of 2024 gave Matt a basic leg where he had no ankle movement, and he has now qualified for an upgrade to a C-Leg by Ottobock.
