Hi, my name is Anne Lemirande, and I am reaching out on behalf of my dear friends, Sven and Teresa Bartram, and their incredible 13-year-old son, Mason.

Mason was born with a rare birth defect called agenesis of the corpus callosum. His condition is so unique that doctors believe he may be the only person in the world with it. Throughout his life, Mason has faced countless challenges, including long hospital stays and complex medical issues. Despite it all, he continues to show incredible strength and resilience.

This past October, Mason was admitted to American Family Children’s Hospital with pneumonia. He spent four weeks on a ventilator, fighting for his life. During his hospital stay, he suffered an unexplained spinal injury that left him paralyzed from the armpits down. Doctors are uncertain how or why this happened—possibly due to the ventilator or the severe infection attacking his spine. To help him breathe more easily and improve his quality of life, Mason underwent a tracheotomy on November 1st.

Since these complications, everyday tasks have become even more difficult—especially transportation. Sven and Teresa have made significant modifications to their home to accommodate Mason’s needs, but without a handicap-accessible vehicle, getting him to medical appointments, therapy, or even just out to enjoy life has become an overwhelming challenge.

Mason loves to travel—his parents have already taken him to 22 states—and they are determined to continue giving him the best life possible. But now, they need your help.

We are raising funds to purchase a wheelchair-accessible van that will allow Mason to travel safely and comfortably.
