UPDATE!!!
Mason has been on a heck of a ride through this journey in his life. We started chemo a little over a week ago and it is already taking its toll on him. We still need a few things to help get him through this. As I write this update we are in the hospital, he was admitted three days ago due to a series of unfortunate events. He has some kidney damage and several other things going on but I am trying to get the things I'll need to be able to bring him home and prevent him from getting sick again. We still need some basic cleaning supplies - bleach, disinfectant wipes, disinfectant sprays, gloves, etc. we can not have skin to skin contact with him and we have to thoroughly disinfect (bleach) anything he touches (toilet, countertops, shower, etc) this is for our safety as well as his. Since he is doing chemo the only way his body releases it is to excrete it through the bodily fluids and it can be dangerous to those of us around him, and even more dangerous to him if he gets sick from our germs. With that being said we appreciate all the help and support through this journey. Thank you!!!
My Son Mason Has Cancer — Please Help Us Fight
Hi, my name is Stephanie, and I’m a single mom to three boys — my whole world. My oldest, Mason, is just 19 years old. He’s kind, hard-working, and full of dreams. He wants to go to trade school and become a welder. He’s always been the one to make everyone laugh and keep us all together, even when life got hard.
A few days ago, our world stopped. We were told Mason has testicular cancer. The doctors found a large mass. Hearing those words… it felt like the air was sucked out of the room. No parent is ever prepared to hear that their child has cancer.
We’ve already been through so much. We’re domestic violence survivors, and we’ve fought hard to rebuild our lives from nothing. Just when we were starting to stand on our own two feet again, life hit us with this.
Right now, Mason is being so strong — he’s smiling, cracking jokes, and trying to stay positive. But as his mom, I see the fear in his eyes when he thinks I’m not looking. I see how tired he already is, and we’re just at the beginning of this fight.
I need help. I’m not good at asking for it, but I have to for him. My car is falling apart, and I need it to get him to all of his upcoming appointments, treatments, and hospital visits. We’ll also need help with basics — gas, groceries, clothes for him (since chemo or radiation will likely cause him to lose weight), and just keeping the lights on while we focus on getting him better.
Every bit of help — no matter how small — makes a difference. It gives us a little bit of breathing room, a little bit of peace, and a lot of hope.
Mason has such a beautiful soul. He deserves the chance to chase his dreams and live the full life he’s worked so hard for. I just want to make sure he gets that chance.
If you can donate, share, pray, or even send kind words — it means more than you’ll ever know. Thank you for standing with us through this nightmare and helping me fight for my boy.
With all my heart,
Stephanie
