**Help Save Mama Kitty: A Community Effort for a Stray in Need**

One morning, I was greeted by a familiar stray cat limping outside where I am staying. She immediately demanded love and attention, and as I checked her back leg, I was heartbroken to discover her paw was severely injured—mangled and degloved, exposing bone. Distressed and determined to help, I reached out to others in the building for support.

For four days, we contacted local vets, rescues, and the SPCA, but most shelters were at capacity or were unable to provide the urgent medical care she needed. Despite the odds, this sweet cat stayed with us, enjoying the affection we offered as we tried to find her a lifeline.

We pooled our resources to get a crate and medical supplies for her wound care, taking turns watching her around the clock. Time was running out; though she remained alert and affectionate, it was clear she was in pain.

Finally, we received a ray of hope. The SPCA Malvern agreed to examine her. The vet immediately recognized her spirit and determined she was too sweet to be euthanized. After discussing our options, we learned that the costs for spaying, vaccinations, bloodwork, antibiotics, and a scheduled amputation would amount to $100. I committed to covering out of pocket, and arranged a foster home until we could find her forever family.

Unfortunately, after her first procedure, complications arose due to an infection, leading to increased medical expenses. Thankfully, the grant we secured will assist with her amputation, but the remaining costs will fall on our community efforts.
