I’m asking for help paying for eye surgery for my dog, my companion Mak. We were on our morning walk and when the sunlight hit his pretty little face I saw to my horror that his right eye was as red as a blood moon. I contacted his vet right away.

Mak came into my life five years ago, a semi-feral, highly intelligent escape artist who took almost a year for him to trust I wouldn’t abandon him. We all have a back story and Mak is no different.

After we spent about a year filling holes under the fences, going door to door asking my neighbors if they had seen my dog or crawling under vehicles to dislodge Mak from a standoff with a feral cat or a mama possum we settled into a nice routine.

Mak has always been a happy, fun-loving slice of sunshine that truly enjoys meeting new friends. He will walk confidently up to you with his smiling face and wagging his curly little tail asking you to greet him.

That has all changed. He can no longer see out of that eye. I have taken him to two separate vets. And spent two months trying different treatments. The vet has not found a cause but he strongly recommends that the eye be removed as it’s not functioning, it’s causing Mak a great deal of pain and importantly the vet does not want whatever the cause, to effect his other eye.

my little dog means the world to me and I could not live with myself if I didn’t do everything in my power to get him the help that he needs. Thank you for taking the time to read my request.
