Give Maizey a Fighting Chance and Support Her Recovery

Donation protected
Hi friends – Allison here. I’m writing on behalf of my dear friend Taz, whose dog Maizey escaped the back yard (being the incredible escape artist she is) and was hit by a car. She is now fighting to recover in the ICU at Noah’s Animal Hospital. She’s in an oxygen chamber right now with round-the-clock care.

The vets have been honest about how serious it is, but they also see hope. She's made some progress in the last 24 hours, and they believe she just needs more time to heal. The vet did say they've seen animals in worse condition come back from these kinds of injuries, so Taz is in this really painful limbo right now of not knowing what's coming but also wanting to give Maizey as much time to heal as possible (and also Maizey is a TANK, I swear, so I'm very very hopeful she's going to pull through).

The hard part is the cost. The latest estimate for her ICU stay is $5,500, and that could go up if she needs more time. As you can imagine, this cost is really overwhelming in an already heartbreaking moment for Taz.

For all of you who know Maizey, you know she's Taz's baby. She's been there for Taz through all the crazy ups and downs of life, and she is completely spoiled rotten. She’s got this incredible fan club of humans who love her, and even the vets and techs who’ve cared for her can’t stop talking about how sweet she is. Everyone who meets her falls for her. She seriously has one of the sweetest souls I've ever seen in a dog, despite not understanding what personal space is.

If you can help—whether it’s $5 or just sharing this link—it would mean so much to Taz, and to me. Also, in the event that all the funds donated do not end up being needed (as the $5,500 amount is an estimate if she has to stay X amount of days, but right now the bill is already up to $2,100), any additional funds will be donated to Street Outreach Animal Response (S.O.A.R.) Initiative in Indianapolis. This organization serves our Indianapolis community by working with people experiencing homelessness or crisis who also have pets, and they are an organization Taz greatly loves and has worked with directly before.

Thank you all so much for helping us give her the best shot at coming home. This was such a shocking event and has been so painful for Taz and everyone in Maizey's circle, but already the support surrounding Taz has been so kind and encouraging.
