Maggie’s suffering is unimaginable. She’s been shooed away, spit on, and even kicked and stoned. Locals wanted her and the rest of the strays gone so no one would feed her. Starved, her body ate away at all the muscle and fat it could find, leaving her skeletal. She’s given birth many times and very likely watched her babies die from starvation and diseases.

After a long hospitalization period, Maggie transformed into a beautiful, brave, precious girl. But, Maggie’s plight is not over – she now lives in a cold shelter in Azerbaijan with no way out except for this flight to Canada. Maggie will never be adopted locally – she’s seen as damaged goods to the culture. In Canada, she will be adopted and cherished for the rest of her life.
