Hello all! I’m sharing this on behalf of sweet Lulu. Please take just a moment to read.
Lulu is a two-year-old terrier mix who unfortunately had her life turned upside down on Monday, October 28th. Lulu was struck by a car in Anderson and completely went paralyzed in her hind end. While her owners were made aware of the situation, poor Lulu was left all alone in the shelter with no return of her family. Now Lulu is facing tons of medical bills for her recovery.
Lulu is currently suffering from paralysis in her hind end, as well as urinary crystals, significantly increased liver values due to trauma, and overall severe pain. I have offered to cover Lulu’s veterinary costs for the sake of the shelter due to funds being so low but the intake of animals being so high. Lulu had radiographs taken and it was determined that she has no fractures or ruptures anywhere in the body, but does have severe inflammation. Due to her poor liver function, Lulu cannot be on any anti-inflammatory medications at the moment, making her pain management a little more difficult to accommodate.
Lulu is still eating and drinking and even started to urinate and defecate on her own a few days ago. She also has reflexes in her hind legs, indicating she has a large possibility to walk again! Lulu is currently on a liver supplement, joint supplement, pain medication, antibiotics, and prescription food. Due to me having my own personal expenses, I can only afford to give her so much money for medical care. Here is where you guys come in! Lulu still has many more vet visits, including an appointment to see a neurologist this Wednesday! All donations will go towards her recovery and treatments so that we can see this sweet girl walk again.
Update: Lulu saw the neurologist today. As it turns out, she could be suffering from a hairline fracture in the spine or herniated disc. With that being said, Miss Lulu needs to get a CT scan to determine what is causing this pain and how to properly treat it! The cost of this is going to be roughly 3500. Without this, we won’t be able to know if Lulu can ever walk again! The vet had some good hopes for her so fingers crossed!
Lulu is by far the sweetest dog I’ve ever come across and deserves a fighting chance. Let’s get Lulu walking again! ❤️
