A little over two weeks ago, a stray dog limped into our yard — skinny, scared, and unable to use her back leg. We didn’t know where she came from, but we did know she needed help. She immediately took to our son, and somehow… she just never left.

We brought her in, fed her, gave her a warm place to sleep, and took her straight to the vet. She’s now fully vaccinated and finally getting proper care for the first time in who knows how long.

Unfortunately, the vet confirmed what we feared:

Her back leg was broken, likely from being hit by a car, and it can’t be repaired — it needs to be amputated.

On top of that, she also tested positive for heartworms, and she’ll need treatment right away to give her the healthy, pain-free life she deserves.

We never planned to take on another dog, especially with medical needs like this. But she is the sweetest soul, and after seeing how she bonded with our son, we just didn’t have the heart to turn her away. She chose us… and now we want to choose her right back.

We’re asking for help covering the cost of her leg amputation, pain management, and heartworm treatment so she can finally live the safe, happy life she deserves. Anything helps — even a share.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping us give this precious Lucy a second chance. ❤️
