Give Lindsey Hartley a helping hand

Lindsey Hartley is everyone’s best friend, but she is so much more than that to so many of us. She has always been there for you, and now is the time to give back, to show her how her love has not gone unnoticed.

Lindsey is 33 years old, and has been a staple in downtown La Crosse, WI for over a decade. She is everyone’s favorite bartender and shoulder to lean on, and she has been a rock for many. Recently, she has been diagnosed with liver Cirrhosis. A progressive condition which has continued to worsen over the last few months, and has now left her unable to work or participate in many of her favorite activities. She has been fighting this for a little under a year, and because of recent setbacks, she has found herself struggling to cover her medical and life expenses.

Lindsey has always been a workaholic. She loved her job and her work family like the real thing. Leaving her position at the Helm, along with all of her many side jobs to help out other places, has been the hardest part of all of this for her. She needs treatment on an almost weekly basis now, and her body cannot handle the stress of standing and moving for hours at a time, but still she thinks about her work. She wants to get back to where she is needed, and get back to being the one who helps. Her pride and work ethic have taken her this far, probably past the point advised, but she needs now to take time to heal herself and prepare for the difficult road ahead.

The likelihood of a transplant is high, and her job now has to be to take care of herself and get her body in the best shape possible to receive the gift of transplant. She must purchase a special salt-free diet, which is costing more than her usual grocery bill. She has many prescriptions and other treatments that are adding up as the months go on. On top of the added bills, her monthly bills still need paying as well. The stress of the financial burden is only growing as more medical bills roll in, and the future bills hang in her head. We as a family are asking all of her other family to help us ease this load for her. I can’t think of anyone more deserving of a little help, even if she hates asking for it.
