Hello everyone, my name is Sam and I’m setting up this GoFundMe for my dad’s beloved dog, Lima. She’s a young 6-year-old Belgian Malinois who spends her time playing fetch, swimming in the pool, and protecting her family. Unfortunately, with all her activity, she has essentially torn her ACL (in human terms) or CCL in doggie terms.
They have tried their best to make her rest with medications and improve her function with anti-inflammatory medications, but ultimately the vet has recommended a TPLO surgery.
“TPLO, or tibial plateau leveling osteotomy, is a common orthopedic surgery for dogs that stabilizes the knee joint after a cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) injury. The procedure involves cutting and rotating the top of the shin bone (tibial plateau) to eliminate the need for the CCL and stabilize the joint with a plate and screws.”
The cost has been estimated at $5,500 and it’s of course an unexpected cost that they are working on covering and could use any help towards it if you’re able.
Their children are all grown up and their dogs are their babies now. They love them and want to make their lives as full and happy as they possibly can.
The surgery has a YouTube link that shows what is entailed and can be viewed here:
