If you know me, you know I hate asking for help — but after multiple financial setbacks with my house, I’ve finally had to admit that I need it now. This one hurts the most.
Leia, my 11-year-old lab mix, is the sweetest soul. She lights up every room, loved her walkies and tossing the frisbee, and is the biggest snuggle bug you’ll ever meet. Over the years, she’s had her share of health issues, which have cost me thousands. I’ve always found a way to make it work, and her (very expensive) pet insurance helped cover some of it — until just last month, when they reduced her coverage due to age and pre-existing conditions.
Tonight, Leia suffered a seizure caused by a hemorrhagic pericardial effusion and cardiac tamponade. The emergency vet performed a pericardiocentesis to drain the fluid around her heart and give us a little more time — just enough to make arrangements and say goodbye at home, where she feels safe and loved.
This fundraiser won’t save my girl. But if you’re able and willing to contribute, it would help relieve some of the financial pressure while I focus on giving her a peaceful goodbye and begin to process this loss.
Thank you so much for reading, for supporting us, and for loving Leia in whatever way you can.
