Laura is one of the kindest, most peaceful, magical human beings on this planet.
From 2020 to 2024, she was working on creating her dream camper home in Goodrich, TX. It was still coming together, her and her family were in the process of laying new flooring and had just replaced some sections of subfloor (after discovering an unexpected leak and water damage) when pulling up the old flooring. While nearing the end of those renovations, the floods of East Texas came through in May of 2024.
The camper is an absolute goner. It was not so much the water, as it was the intense mold situation it caused. Unfortunately Laura is incredibly sensitive to mold. Between the water damage and mold being in numerous places, including the underside of the subfloor, they felt it would be basically impossible to feel confident that it could be fully remediated or easily repaired, and decided it was best to abandon the project, which was really so much more than that to Laura - it was her first home of her very own and a big dream to be able to travel in a tiny mobile home in the future.
As a temporary solution while weighing options and figuring out how to move forward, a shipping container on the family property that had been storing the majority of Laura's belongings (which also flooded and most of the things stored in there had to be thrown away) was cleaned out and modified to become a bedroom of sorts.
Now in January of 2025, as the cold of winter has decided to show up, issues with insulation and condensation in the shipping container have created another moldy situation and Laura's health has been declining.
My goal is to raise enough funds to get her a new mobile camper that needs little to no renovations!! A safe space that is ready to move in the event of more flooding, and to help get her health back on track. A portion of the funds will be used to replace important items that were lost in the flooding!
