A couple days ago, Kris’s mom walked into a scene no mother should ever have to witness. She found her son face down, unresponsive, unconscious, and he had been that way for hours. In those terrifying moments that felt like forever, all we could do was pray he was breathing.

Kris is now in the ICU, in a diabetic coma, fighting. He is also battling sepsis, a severe infection that has spread through his body and placed him in critical condition. Because he was unconscious for so long before receiving medical treatment, doctors are also concerned about the possibility of brain damage, though they won’t know the full extent until he wakes up in the oncoming days

If you know Kris, you know he is one of the rare ones. The friend who would be there for you without hesitation. The guy who would give his last dollar to someone who needed it more. The son who has been caring for his mom through her own health struggles. The quiet, dependable force who has carried most of their living expenses without ever asking for anything in return. Now he is completely vulnerable and needs support more than ever.

The road ahead is long and overwhelming. Kris will be out of work for the forseeable future and we won’t know the severity of his medical condition until he wakes up.

While he lies in an ICU bed fighting, medical bills, rent, and everyday expenses will continue to pile up and he has no way to cover them.

No one can prepare for this kind of fear, loss, or sudden devastation.

Kris has always shown up for others with a full heart so now this is our moment to show up for him.
