Help Julie and King Get a Safe, Reliable Vehicle

Hi Everyone,

I’m reaching out for help for my dear friend, Julie. She’s an incredible person—strong, hardworking, and always looking out for others—but right now, she’s in a tough spot.

Julie is 60 years old and currently living in her car with her loyal dog, King. She works nights part time at Taco Bell and used to make a living delivering for DoorDash. Unfortunately, someone stole her catalytic converter, and over time, people have also broken her windows. With the damage, mold has taken hold in the car, which is dangerous because Julie has severe asthma and is allergic to mold. Despite all of this, she keeps pushing forward.

She’s not looking for housing—she's tried that route before, and it hasn’t worked out. What she does need is a safe, reliable vehicle where she and King can sleep securely and that she can use to start delivering again.

Julie doesn’t drink, doesn’t do drugs, and isn’t asking for a handout. She’s done everything in her power to improve her situation. Since I’ve known her, she has managed to get a bank account, a driver’s license, and a social security card—all without a mailing address, which is no small feat. She’s applied for over 100 jobs but hasn’t had any luck getting hired. Through everything, she keeps working, keeps pushing, and keeps showing up—not just for herself, but for others.

I met Julie when I was working security at the place where she parks during the day, and she’s become one of my closest friends. When I’ve had car trouble, she’s the first to research a solution and try to help me fix it. She even helps me with administrative work when I have a little extra money to send her way. Now, it’s my turn to help her.

Julie has found a trustworthy, ethical cash-only dealership (where I got my own used car), and I want to help her get an SUV or minivan—something safe, secure, and mold-free for her and King.
