A Future without Seizures for Judith

Original Spanish, written by her parents, is found at the bottom.

• Diagnosis: Refractory epilepsy
• Procedure: “Epilepsy surgery”
• Location of Surgery: Quito Metropolitan Hospital
• Home: Guayaquil, Isla Trinitaria

Friends: We want to share with you the story of Judith Chancay, a 16-year-old girl who, since birth, has had to fight a disease called "refractory epilepsy," which causes seizures every day, despite trying all medications and reaching the maximum dose to date, with no results. Since she was one year old, she has been dependent on very expensive medications, and at age 6, she underwent surgery for a brain glioma.

Today, there is hope, and if God opens the way, the solution would be epilepsy surgery, which could give her a different life and the possibility of no longer depending on medications. This intervention would not only mean relief for her health and a better quality of life, but also the possibility of no longer depending on medication.
The problem is that this surgery costs $20,000, as confirmed by the hospital, and we cannot cover this amount. We serve as pastors in Guayaquil in a Reformed Church, and more than 40% of our income goes solely to medication and medical appointments.
For this reason, we appeal to people of good heart. Every contribution, no matter how small, brings us closer to giving Judith this unique opportunity. You can also support us by sharing this campaign so that more people know her story.
We trust in the Lord to move hearts so that Judith can receive this surgery and have a different life. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for reading, donating, and sharing.

~ Pastor Jorge and his wife Erika.

This is posted with help from an American friend. The original Spanish, introduction is at the bottom.

-From the American friend. Pastor Jorge and his wife Erika are the parents of Judith. Any money given is considered a gift from God, and we believe that the mercy of Christ is shown by such giving, and very evidently so when believers themselves give to such a cause. Thank you to all who support this fundraiser. We truly pray that God will show his grace and mercy towards you, in far greater measure than the mercy you are showing us by your giving or even by your prayers and words of encouragement. All glory be to God. And truly, the mercies of God are as an everlasting fountain!

-Another note from the American friend. I put the goal at $25,000 because the cost mentioned is just for the surgery. Medications, lodging for 1 month, and transport are not included in the cost. All funds received from this fundraiser will be transferred directly to the pastor after receipt, and may be subject to taxes on receipt in Ecuador. Initial donations in excess of the medical expenses will be saved for future medical expenses for Judith, especially post-operative drugs.

“Un futuro sin convulsiones para Judith”

• Diagnóstico: Epilepsia Refractaria
• Procedimiento: “cirugía de la epilepsia”
• Lugar: Hospital Metropolitano de Quito
• Domicilio: Guayaquil, Isla Trinitaria
