Our lovely grandson Josiah needs your help. Josiah was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder ASD right before his 2nd birthday. Before Josiah turned 1 year old, he was reaching his milestones and was a healthy boy.
At around 15 months something strange happened, it was like something in his brain disconnected. He stopped engaging with his peers at daycare and began stimming and doing things that did not align developmentally with his age. After bringing it to his pediatrician's attention at his 18-month checkup she referred him to a developmental pediatrician and just 2 weeks shy of his 2nd birthday was given the diagnosis. At that time, you can only imagine that our world changed.
From that moment my daughter, Victoria has worked with doctors and therapists to help improve his well-being. Although, my grandson is extremely picky we have managed to somewhat change his diet and use biomedical treatments which he has shown some slight improvements.
Today, at 3.5 years old, Josiah is still non-verbal and not potty trained.
The love we have for Josiah is such that we have researched multiple treatments to help him thrive in life, one being stem-cell therapy for children on the spectrum. We have listened to hundreds and hundreds of positive stories and have spoken to many clinics. So, we know it is the right step and have hope that this treatment will help improve Josiahs's verbal communication, eye contact, stims and overall, his quality of life.
Unfortunately, Stem- cell therapy is not something done in the USA. Therefore, we have to travel to a reputable clinic that specialize in this treatment. We have narrowed it down to two. One being in Panama and the other one in Turkey and the cost can go up to $30,000. Our goal will 100% go towards his treatments.
From the bottom of my heart, we thank you for taking your time to read our story and no donation is too little.
With love,
Josiah's Grandparents + Mommy and Josiah
