Give Javier a helping hand with his recovery

Donation protected
My brother Javier Guerrero suffered a major stroke on Jan. 15, 2021 while working as a water treatment operator at the City of Harlingen Water Treatment Facility. Thanks to quick action by his family and coworkers he was transported by ambulance to Valley Baptist where he received life-saving procedures, including a decompressive craniectomy. Unfortunately he also experienced respiratory distress resulting in pneumonia.

Thankfully he is now in stable condition and it’s time to begin the long road to recovery.  We are admitting him to a neuro rehab facility in Austin to help with that recovery.

That’s where you come in. We’re asking for help to offset transportation costs, medical copayments and exclusions not covered by insurance, and to help the family continue to be with him during the long stay in rehab.

A personal note from his daughter Felicia:

As a brother, son, husband, and father: Javier Guerrero is an irreplaceable member of our family.

This past month of not being able to talk to him or hug him and only seeing him through the small window of his current care facility, has been incredibly difficult. With the year just starting, none of us could have predicted such a terrible and scary thing could happen.

To those of you who aren’t quite so familiar with Javier, perhaps a brief description of him as a person is in order. First, the word altruistic comes to mind. He’s always been devoted in his care to those he loves. Whether offering his own support where he can, or by just being there, he has certainly been a fixture in many of our lives. Second, persevering. Even in rough times, his personal strength and diligent, hardworking nature has, in many instances, led him to be the unmoving pillar of many. Lastly, though arguably most important, is loving. The sincere and constant warmth he expresses to others is one of the most notable things about him. His caring and cordial nature is what has cemented him as a key member of our family. For one of us to be put in such a precarious position, for someone so loved to experience such a hardship, it certainly has us reeling and incredibly appreciative of any help you can offer to get him back on his feet. We can’t thank you enough.
