Izzy, our busy Izzy, also lovingly known as squish face had a bad accident on 7/11/2024.

She was outside playing with her new sister and the outdoor lead wrapped around her little foot when sister ran the opposite direction breaking the foot at the ankle.

We were sent to Veterinary Specialty Services in Manchester and they told us there’s a very small chance it will heal on it’s own, better chance with $4000 arthrodesis surgery, either way if it doesn’t heal right she will lose her back leg.

Izzy’s injury has taken away her ability to run, jump, and play, and hoping that with the surgery and lots of prayers and rest she can come out of this our happy, spunky, loving little tiny puppy.

Update: We took Izzy to Arnold Animal Hospital today 7/22 for a bandage change and 2nd opinion. The vet took one look and was shocked by the injury. He said there is missing bone tissue and the ligaments torn there is virtually no support in her foot at this point. We have the smallest chance of healing on its own, but they don’t want to give false hope. The arthrodesis surgery will give Izzy a better chance of healing with packing the missing bone with bone marrow and tissue and the hope would be scar tissue surrounding the fracture would provide more support to heal.
