Give Hunni a Chance: Donate for Her Recovery

Donation protected
This GoFundMe is for a puppy we call Hunni. I found her on a job site. This dog was locked inside a vacant building. When they found her, she was skin and bones and could barely stand up. They had called animal control to come get her, but I couldn't let them just take her and put her to sleep. I decided I would take her home and we would help her back to health.

Once we got her home, we bathed her and fed her, and she mostly slept. I thought she had a limp due to just being malnourished and figured a few days of eating and rest she would be doing a lot better. Well, three days later she looked better but was still limping, so we called our vet and took her in on Friday, Nov 22. She got all her shots and checked out, and the vet did an X-ray of her leg. They came and showed us she has a broken femur (completely broken in half). They told us they couldn't do the surgery she would need and gave us a few recommendations.

I got home and called several places and sent some the X-ray pics, and all but one said they couldn't handle her case right now. I finally spoke to Dog and Cat Emergency in Bowie. They told me to bring her in Monday at 9. We went in, and they evaluated her leg with more X-rays. They believe the leg will need to be amputated and also found that her other leg has some damage and basically needs a hip repair as well. They gave me an estimate which is in the $7k dollar range and said they believe that once the surgery is done, her recovery will take some time, but she should be able to live a relatively normal life.

Having her leg amputated is definitely not what I want to do, but they said her leg has been broken for quite a while due to them being able to see in the X-rays where her body has tried to heal. But the break has just been like this too long for them to be able to fix it, something to do with the ligaments tightening up due to the way the bone is apart from each other (over my head). But I'm sure if this vet could fix it, she would. She said it would've been a very risky surgery to attempt, but if I wanted to, she would give it some consideration.

I just want this dog to be able to have a good life, be able to run and play. She does it now like this, which is amazing considering what she must be going through.
