Hudson Cope is one of a kind. His story started out with being an owner surrender alongside his sister, scared and timid; however, Deb at Morgan's Mutts took them both on so their story could end happily. Enter Brittney Cope (me). I fell in love with Hudson the first time he howled at me when I went to volunteer at an adoption event with Morgan's Mutts. After giving David no choice, Hudson came home with me in November of 2018. He is my best bud, the most loyal of companions, the snuggliest guy, and he brings the most energy to every party. I could go on and on about how much I love Hudson and how much he means not only to me but our entire family, but I will spare you the novel.
Now we are here. Hudson needs surgery. He has been diagnosed with a calcified disc in his neck that affects his range of motion in his neck, it keeps him in debilitating pain unless heavily medicated, and it has decreased his quality of life significantly. He needs this surgery. I have a consult with a neuro surgeon (yes you read that correctly) tomorrow, 2/25/2025, to discuss what needs to be done. After researching extensively and getting second and third opinions from other vets, discussing alternative pain management solutions, etc. I have discovered that surgery is the only option for him to truly live the rest of his life (hopefully) pain-free. I don't know any other option for us other than to cut his life entirely too short in order to end this horrible pain for him. I need this surgery for him as much as he needs it for himself. He is only six years old, and when Deb and I both took this spunky snuggly hound on I don't believe either of us intended for six to be the number he lives to. The rough estimate without sitting down with the surgeon is $8,000-$10,000 including all diagnostics, imaging, consults, and surgery itself. I am not typically one to ask for help for myself, but I trust that everyone knows my heart, especially my heart for animals. If I wasn't truly desperate for this I would NEVER ask. Please consider donating to help me save my best friend's quality of life.
