Give hope to stray dogs in Serbia!
Donation protected
Zorka Damjanović lives in Budisava, Serbia and is 74 years old. She runs a shelter for dogs called Bella and is currently caring for more than 100 dogs. She has been caring for animals for more than 25 years and has saved more than 500 lives.
Approximately 3 years ago, a veterinary inspector came and said that Bella cannot rehome stray dogs until Zorka registers the shelter, which she promptly did. In August of 2022, another inspection took place. The shelter was found to be in contravention of European Union standards, and Zorka was told to complete a number of expensive renovations. Zorka was also ordered to cease all work and her permit to send the dogs abroad was revoked until the work can be completed. Since that time no dogs have been allowed to enter or leave Bella. Until Zorka completes the necessary work so that Bella complies with European Union standards, the shelter will remain closed, and the dogs will have no hope of finding homes.
The purpose of this fundraiser is to collect financial assistance for Bella so that Zorka may complete the first stage of the construction, which will cost approximately €25,000. The current situation of the shelter is dire - more than 100 dogs are stranded with no ability to leave, and the financial consequence of caring for so many animals without the ability to find them forever homes has been significant.
Please join our fight to help Zorka and rebuild Bella. Together we can give these dogs a chance to finally find loving families and live the lives they deserve!
