Give Hope to Danielle: Help Fund Her Treatment

Have you ever needed hope? This is a mother’s plea for assistance in keeping hope alive for my daughter, Danielle Thousand.

A fighter since birth, Danielle had her first abdominal surgery when she was just three months old. After years of watching my child struggle with pain and not getting any real answers, she was finally diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Disease in 2002. Never one to back down from a challenge, Danielle has taken this disease in stride and I have watched her stoically roll with the many punches that have been thrown her way, going through countless surgeries, hospital stays, traveling for treatments out of pocket at the hope of “living a life, instead of just surviving it”, as she often puts it. Through it all Danielle still rises, her shear grit and passion for life has continued to inspire not only our family, but those around her too.

Shortly after having a total colectomy in 2019, which at the time she was told would “cure” her disease, Danielle began developing anal fistulae. While I have always admired my daughter’s upbeat, “this disease won’t keep me down” attitude, being faced with the reality that no local resources can help her has been a terrifying place for her to be both mentally and physically. Watching my daughter’s light of hope slowly dim, we have been searching high and low for stem cell treatment options currently available. She has met with a doctor out of Atlanta that is willing to take her on as a stem cell patient at her clinic in Mexico and the first treatment could be as soon as August 8th and 9th, 2024. Since stem cell treatment is not yet approved in the US, the cost to receive this treatment will be all out of pocket, totaling about $6,000 per treatment. This is where I am hoping for a miracle!
