Give Hope To Ahmed Salah After One Year Of Genocide

Donation protected

My name is Howard, I am a New Yorker and a concerned citizen doing my best to extend mercy to people in need. I met Ahmed Salah through a network of peers assisting Gazans with essential fundraising at this time. Below is his story. Please read it, and if you cannot give at this time, please consider sharing with your friends and family. Adopting the campaign and continuing to post and inform others about it also helps immensely. More photos will be added as they are received.

The most urgent thing you should know about Ahmed is that he has been badly injured. For a moment, Ahmed was at the juncture of life and death. Thankfully he received lifesaving medical care and has been discharged to continue recovering outside the hospital. I say "outside the hospital" and not "home", because there is no more "home" for Ahmed or his family.

Ahmed's family was forced to flee their house and family business, Ahmed's clothing shop, in the North early on. They left on foot, no other means of transportation available to them, and walked through hell on earth. Though they survived the hail of bullets and bombs as they fled, the home and shop they left behind were later bombed to ash. They were displaced to the South, Rafah, Al Mawasi, Al Zawaida -- each time losing more of their belongings, more of their strength, more of their hope.

Ahmed's immediate family consists of himself (25), his mother, Ghada, (47), and his sister, Ahlam (24). Ahmed and his sister grew up without a father, who passed when Ahmed was only 2 years old. Their mother took care of them best she could, and Ahmed made her immensely proud by graduating from university with a degree in Accounting. He maintained a simple business selling men's clothing, and did his best to support his family without a father for guidance.

Ahmed is still doing his best to support his family by reaching out to you for support. It is not easy to ask for help, and Ahmed has refrained for nearly a year from making any kind of fundraiser. Now, injured and unable to do anything else, he turns to you, free people of the world, for any help you can give.

There are three contingent goals of this campaign, considering the completely unpredictable nature of Ahmed's situation. The first is to provide Ahmed's family with the means for daily sustenance -- food, water, medicine -- particularly in light of Ahmed's injury and his critical need for supplies. All things in Gaza must be purchased. Potable water is bought every day, at stomach-churning prices. Food is incredibly scarce, and when it is found it is also unaffordable. The same for whatever medicine and medical supplies find their way to the market. These, and other essential items like tent materials or clothing, will make up a good bulk of the expenses for the time being.

The second goal is that, should the Rafah crossing re-open, Ahmed and his family would like to flee at the first given opportunity so that their lives can be spared in the immediate future. The price of this before the gates closed was 5,000 USD per person.

The third and most long-term goal will be to rebuild after the war. To remake their home, their business, and their lives. Any money raised that does not go to their immediate survival will be put towards this end.

If you've read this far, you likely already know about and are empathetic to the daily torture Gazans are going through literally every day. This campaign is a work in progress, and will be updated with photos. Funds will be wired to Ahmed through the Bank of Palestine when enough money is accrued to make sense given transfer fees. Please give, and if you can't give, share this story, and in any case, please keep Ahmed and his family in your prayers.

Ahmed has very kindly shared some photos from his shop before the attacks on Gaza began. Your help means everything to him and will be a significant contribution to getting him and his family back on their feet.
