Help Save Children Charity Organization in Uganda: Feed & Care for 40 Orphans in Need

A humble brick and clay structure in Mubende, Uganda, stands as a beacon of hope for 40 orphaned children and 3 devoted adults. This is the Save Children Charity Organization, founded by Lutaakome “Peter” Musana, a man with a heart full of compassion and a dream to care for those in need within in his community. Despite overwhelming challenges, Peter has dedicated his life to providing these children with a safe place to live, food to eat, and as much love as possible.

But the reality they face is dire.

The orphanage, which was founded five years ago, is located in rough land, in cramped conditions and with limited access to clean water, relying on a single water source that barely supplies their basic needs. One of the children, Alhan (5) suffers from serious skin diseases, and every day, all 42 of them struggle to survive on just one meal.

Peter, who grew up facing neglect and abuse himself, has made it his life’s mission to provide the care and support that he never had. Despite his best efforts, the strain of trying to feed and shelter so many children is taking its toll. He battles deep mental and emotional challenges due to the overwhelming responsibility. Yet, his love for these children keeps him going.

The orphanage needs help now.

How You Can Help:

• Food: The orphanage can purchase 25 kgs of rice (2 bags) for 300,000 UGX (about $80 USD), which provides enough for about a week with basic meals like rice and beans.

• Necessities: Beyond food, the orphanage is always in need of items like charcoal, salt, oil, and sugar.

• Medical Care: One of the children suffers from serious skin diseases and need proper medical treatment, which the orphanage cannot afford.

(The orphanage has sadly lost Trisha, who was also suffering from this rare skin disease.)

• Security: The orphanage is currently requesting exterior and interior lighting. ($25/ea)

The Goal:

We’re looking to raise $15,000 to help provide consistent food, clean water, basic medical care, and other necessities for these 40 children and 3 caretakers for the foreseeable future. Every donation, whether it’s $1 or $100, will make a difference.

Where Your Money Will Go– Overview:

• Food Supplies: Your donation will ensure that these children get more than one meal a day, allowing them to thrive and grow.

• Essential Goods: Charcoal for cooking, oil, salt, sugar and soap will help improve their daily living conditions.

• Medical Care: Funds will also go toward providing proper medical treatment for the children.

• Water Access: The orphanage is working on continually improving the access to clean water for the children and eventually the surrounding community.

• Security: Providing the orphanage with proper security measures.
