My heart breaks and soars at the same time every time I watch Florence and Florina. These two beautiful little girls, born far too soon at 28 weeks have already faced more challenges in their four years than most of us will in a lifetime.

Because they arrived at just 28 weeks, their tiny bodies struggled from the start. At three months old, we got the devastating news: both had Stage 4B Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP), a condition that took their vision completely. No surgeries or treatments could bring it back.

But Florina’s struggles didn’t stop there. Before the blindness diagnosis, doctors found obstructive hydrocephalus, fluid crushing her tiny brain. She fought through surgeries, only to develop epilepsy and right-sided paralysis. Today, at four years old, she can’t walk. Florence, though spared the worst of the neurological battles, is still far behind developmentally where neither can speak like other kids their age.

Yet, they are miracles. Despite the pain, they laugh, hug, and explore their world through touch and sound. Their neurologist says intensive therapy in speech, physiotherapy, and behavioral support is their best chance to catch up, learn to communicate, and maybe even help Florina take her first steps.

But here’s the hard truth: A year of therapies, mobility aids, and specialized education costs alot. As parents, we have invested our all into their treatment since birth and cannot afford the cost for therapies now.

We’re raising funds to give these girls one full year of the care they desperately need. Every dollar will go toward:

Speech therapy (so they can tell us “I love you” clearly).

Physiotherapy (to strengthen Florina’s legs and ease her paralysis).

Sensory tools (like braille books and tactile toys to help them learn).
