Hi everyone! I am starting this fundraiser in order to raise money for my family cat’s radiation treatment.

Hook is a cat that my grandma rescued in 2021. He was found with one fishhook in his face and another in his side, which is where he got his name! Upon meeting him, she fell in love and knew that he was just what she needed. My grandmother was so excited to welcome him and wanted to give him his forever home! Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and was not able to spend as much time with Hook as she would have liked to. After she passed, my family decided to care for Hook and we instantly fell in love. He is sweet, loving, and as we call him… a “scaredy cat.” He has become the light within our household and we all love him dearly. He is our first pet and means so much to us, especially to my brother Liam who has Down syndrome. When he would visit our grandma’s house, the first thing he would do was look in every room for Hook because he was so excited to see him!

Unfortunately, back in November we found a bump above Hook’s back leg and took him to the vet. We decided, with the vet’s recommendation, to have surgery to remove it. We spent the 2 weeks before Christmas caring for Hook as he had to be contained within our bathroom while recovering. We made it his “healing spa” where we played calming music, played videos of birds and fish, and sat with him for as many hours of the day as possible so that he wouldn’t feel alone. Unfortunately, after the biopsy came back Hook was diagnosed with cancer, a fibrosarcoma.

Upon meeting with an oncologist last week we were thrilled to hear that radiation treatment could have the ability to cure this form of cancer or give him a couple more healthy years with us, as he’s only 5 years old. Of course we are hoping for the best!

The radiation treatment is very expensive and we could use some help in order to ensure that we are able to give Hook the best shot at beating cancer as possible! Hook has brought so much joy to myself and my family and we greatly appreciate any donations, prayers, well wishes, or sharing of his story that anyone may be generous enough to give!
