Dear friends and kind-hearted individuals,
I am reaching out to you on behalf of my best friend since college in 2010, Hollie, who has been bravely battling Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) since 2020. Her journey has been incredibly challenging, and she now faces a critical need for a kidney transplant to continue her fight.
Hollie was once a vibrant and hardworking individual, but her CKD diagnosis turned her world upside down. Despite being placed on the kidney transplant list at three different hospitals in the Southeast, she was recently removed for being labeled "non-compliant." The truth behind this label is a harsh reflection of the flaws in our healthcare system.
Due to her condition, Hollie can no longer work 8-hour days, which led to the loss of her employer-provided health insurance. She should have received assistance with a Medicaid application, as CKD qualifies her for coverage, but this crucial step was neglected. As a result, she is now awaiting the processing of her Medicaid application, which could take weeks or even months.
One of the required procedures was not performed correctly by her provider before her insurance ended, leaving her feeling violated and without the necessary care. Without insurance, Hollie is unable to afford regular medical care. She receives daily in-home dialysis which is vital for her survival, and costly.
We are humbly asking for your support to help Hollie get back on the kidney transplant list and afford the life-saving treatments she needs. Your donations will go towards medical bills, in-home dialysis supplies, and any other expenses related to her care. Every little bit helps and brings Hollie one step closer to a healthy, fulfilling life.
Thank you for taking the time to read Hollie's story. Together, we can make a difference and give her the hope and strength she needs to keep fighting.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Adrian
