My name is Mallory Long. We have a 7-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer named Gunner. He is the most loving and loyal dog there ever was. He loves everyone, especially his family and two kiddos. We have a 5-year-old daughter who absolutely adores her Gunny Buns. We also have a 7-month-old son who Gunner has stayed by his side since we brought him home.

On Tuesday, October 14th, he was in a hit and run after he was chasing a squirrel. I was unable to see the car that hit him, but they were not worried about stopping to check in. Gunner came dragging himself to me, not being able to use his back legs. We rushed him to the vet and were told he has a slipped disc in his spine and would need surgery that costs about $10,000.

We are hoping to raise enough money to get him the surgery he deserves so he will be able to walk again. The vet does not seem very hopeful that Gunner will gain any feeling or movement in his back legs without the surgery, not to mention the pain of having a slipped disc putting pressure on his spine. If we had $10,000 laying around, I would do the surgery in a heartbeat, but that’s just not the case. Thank you so much for all the prayers and support from all our friends and family.
