Give Ginger a Fighting Chance to Live #gingersjourney

Hi Guys, it’s nearing 1am so bear with me while I sum up this baby’s story (we’re
calling him Ginger for now. Gotta name
him and give him a fighting chance!)
While out running errands, I spotted this guy in the back parking lot of the Kohl’s in Royersford. When I got a closer look from my car, I knew he needed medical attention ASAP. You will see in the photos/videos his hind end is covered in severe wounds. I spotted him at 4pm, ran to the Giant that was in the shopping center and grabbed catfood. Then ran to the Ace Hardware 3 minutes away to buy a Havahart live animal trap. After 5.5 hours of praying he would go inside the trap and many oh-so-close moments, we secured this little boy.
The emergency vet wasn’t able to pinpoint what exactly could have happened, but we suspect he sustained the wounds from another animal, a dog or fox. His skin is basically sloughing off. Bad wounds all around his hind quarters. From what the vet said, injuries look to be a few days old, if that.
They estimate him to be 6 months-1 yr old. So young. After watching him for 5.5 hours today, I know Ginger is a fighter. He is staying overnight for sedated blood work and x-rays. They texted me a little after midnight that he is doing well under sedation getting his wounds clipped and cleaned. He unfortunately did not have a microchip.
If all goes well with bloodwork and x-ray, they will get him into surgery tomorrow morning.
The vet explained that this is a step by step journey. We just have to do one thing at a time and pray Ginger’s body responds well. This journey could mean Ginger needs to be in the hospital for 7-10 days or possibly more, which unfortunately means big medical bills. $4,000 is the low end of the estimate.
If anyone wants to be apart of Ginger’s journey to being a happy healthy kitten, please share his story or donate.
I will post updates as they come. Thank you for taking the time to read. I couldn’t just leave him there to turn septic or get into another accident. He needed help. And I know that someone guided me to him today..he is a fighter. I appreciate your help and care. Keep Ginger in your thoughts and prayers tonight. ❤️ #gingersjourney
