Help Gab Catch a Break

SHORT VERSION:

Hi guys! I'm Melissa Douglas, aka Gabapple, and a week ago I was on the way to work and got into a car accident. I was out of a job for 6 months, so even though I'm working now, I'm super broke and need to pay for car repairs and medical bills. Please help if you can. Thank you so much. :')

LONG VERSION:

To start, we're EXTREMELY lucky that no one was hurt worse than the whiplash I got. It was raining hard, traffic was extremely heavy for the holidays, and if either of us driving had been off our game and hadn't swerved when we did, this would be an entirely different story. I'm so grateful.

That said, I just started this job after six months of being out of work... and after we (my husband and I) moved across the country to Delaware, having been priced out of our place in Utah. And since we were struggling to make ends meet as it was, and only just barely starting to BEGIN to get caught up, we're now right back to drowning.

I've got deductibles and medical bills from the ER (+ follow-ups), not to mention the ride shares for the times we absolutely must travel. Our insurance doesn't cover a rental, so we're basically not going anywhere unless we absolutely have to, since we don't have another vehicle and we're no where near public transport. Thankfully, we're okay to work remote for now.

I'm very lucky. I know that.

But that doesn't stop the debt collectors from calling, or the stress from raising my blood pressure, which the doctors have now told me is something that I really, really need to be concerned about. There's only so much I can do to get extra cash when I'm already working 40+ hrs a week, especially while on pain meds. Like many, we've got nothing in savings and no safety nets; just what we're earning paycheck to paycheck to pay down the debt accumulated from the last recession when we lost our house and car and were too poor to declare bankruptcy. LOL. True story.

Any amount helps, and will go directly toward the car repairs, medical bills, and, if there's any left over (???), debts.
