Give for Grey!

Our sweet Georgia Grey Clissold was in a slip-n-slide accident in Lake Powell, breaking her right leg on Friday, June 12th.

Grey suffered a high tibial fracture through both growth plates. After spending the night in Page, AZ, the Clissold family drove home directly to Primary Children’s Hospital. Prior to the Sunday morning scheduled routine orthopedic surgery, it was discovered that Grey had severed a main artery behind her knee.

Grey was transferred to the University of Utah Hospital for emergency vascular surgery. During the nearly 8 hour surgery, they harvested a vessel from her left leg and implanted it into her right leg to bypass the severed artery. The length of time without blood flow to her lower leg was nearly unprecedented, making the unknowns abundant.

Grey has undergone 3 subsequent surgeries with multiple to go. The orthopedic team is planning for surgery next week to finally fixate the tibial fracture. Up to this point, that has been secondary to the vascular work needed.

This will be a long fight, but Grey is being cared for by the most kind and talented medical staff. Those who know Grey know she is a tough young lady with a heart of gold and an even stronger spirit. Her genuine smile is contagious and radiates pure love!

She is loved and supported by James and Whit, her fabulous and faithful parents, and her two wonderful younger sisters. Grey, Olive, and Navy are best friends and quite literally 3 peas in a pod!

Grey is facing more surgeries, a long stay in the hospital, and extensive physical therapy to get well again. The hard reality is a possibility of permanent damage, but we all remain hopefully optimistic. As such, the medical expenses for this family are already quite extensive and will continue to grow throughout this long road to recovery.
