This is the story of Omoge, a Nigerian underserved indigent schoolgirl who walks many kilometres to access education. Every morning, Omoge wakes up at 4 a.m. She doesn't do this to study or play. She does it to begin her two-hour walk to school. She navigates dangerous paths, harsh terrain, under the rain or shine, often alone, and arrives at school exhausted before her school day begins. For millions of children like Omoge, whose education is being cut short or negatively impacted by conditions beyond their control, this gruelling journey is the biggest barrier to their education.

We have a simple, powerful, cost-effective, and sustainable solution: a bicycle. (Re-Cycle Bikes to Africa has already donated 1,000 used bikes to the GRA Empowerment Foundation and also paid the Shipping cost of £3,500 to bring the first consignment from the UK to Lagos. This act of kindness sets us on the journey to liberate millions of OMOGEs in Nigeria.)

The GRA Empowerment Foundation is launching Cycle2School Plus (C2S+), an initiative to break the transport barrier to quality education. But we need your help to advance this mission.

WHAT IS CYCLE-2-SCHOOL PLUS?

C2S+ is more than just an academic performance improvement initiative through a free transport service programme. It's a comprehensive and integrated empowerment which will empower the girl-child in particular (60% focus on girls) by providing the following:

·Used Bicycles: Providing a reliable, safe, independent, fast and sustainable mode of transport, providing a reliable, safe, independent, and sustainable mode of transport.

·A Safety Kit: Including a helmet, LED lights, a lock, and a high-visibility vest.

·Basic Maintenance Training: Teaching recipients how to care for their bike, fostering responsibility and road user practical skills and global best practice in terms of behaviour.

·A "Plus" Mentorship Workshop: Sessions on road safety, perseverance, and the importance of driving education(theory).

·Stipends for volunteers working with us and the beneficiaries, both for academic purposes and safety on the road.

RUNNING COSTS

TOTAL NUMBER OF BIKES IN THE FIRST SHIPMENT: 1 of 2 (container 505 bikes)

£15 per child:

To cover customs clearing, duty, port charges and logistics costs per bike from Apapa-Lagos port and our workshop to the beneficiary child and family.

·Purchase Empty Container £1,600 (we need to retain this for workshop and storage in Lagos):

·Customs, clearing, and port charges £1,300 in Nigeria.

·Trucking to workshop £850.

·Misellanious £500.

TOTAL = £4,250

TIMELINE: urgently needed now, container is already sailing to Nigeria, and ETA in Lagos, Nigeria is 3rd of October 2025.

£7.00 per child:

To pay for standard bike riding lessons and DIY maintenance training per child.

TOTAL = £3,500

TIMELINE: Also extremely necessary to prepare the beneficiaries prior to receiving their bikes. Back 2 School is in September, delivery procedures would be very professional due to safety concerns and the road user hostility in Nigeria. We need to activate this part of the mission now.

£25.00 per child:

Provides one child with a full Cycle2School Plus kit (bike, helmet, lock, lights, hi-vis and one year maintenance service contract on the bike at no cost to them).

·Assemble, service and maintain a bike for one year £2,500.

·Helmet, lock, lights and hi-vis £5,000.

·Digital platform and management of the operations £4,500.

·Micellanous £500.

TOTAL £12,500

TIMELINE: This is a one-year budget to be expended as the programme progresses. The PPEs have to all be provided for safety at the onset of the programme. We have to stagger payments for maintenance termly. Back 2 School is in September, delivery procedures would be very professional due to safety concerns and the road user hostility in Nigeria.
