Give Erin More Time with Her Daughter
Donation protected
Erin is 29 years old. She’s a single mum, working full time, and raising her 8-year-old daughter Evie — a bright, beautiful little girl who still believes her mum can fix anything.
I’m Erin’s stepsister and I’m trying to raise these funds for her because just recently, Erin was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s disease.
It’s rare. It’s terminal. And it’s already starting to affect her life.
Most people don’t associate Alzheimer’s with someone so young — someone still packing school lunches, doing bedtime stories, and showing up every day for her child. But this is Erin’s reality. And sadly, it’s progressing fast.
Erin carries a rare genetic mutation (PSEN1) that guarantees this disease. Her mum died from it. So did her aunt. So did her grandfather. Erin has known this might come for her one day — but no one imagined it would be this soon.
Even with a confirmed diagnosis, Erin has been told she’s too young to qualify for clinical trials in Australia. The very gene that proves what’s happening to her is the same one locking her out of support.
There is a treatment called Leqembi. It’s not a cure, but it could slow the progression and give Erin more time — to keep working, keep functioning, and most importantly, keep being Evie’s mum for as long as she can.
But this medication isn’t available through the public system and is incredibly expensive.
We are starting with a fundraising goal of $20,000 to help Erin begin treatment and cover immediate costs. Our longer-term aim is to raise $60,000, which will enable Erin to access up to $30,000 from her superannuation early on compassionate grounds, combined with funds raised here, to pay for ongoing treatment, medical care, and support.
If treatment isn’t possible, the funds will help Erin and Evie take a holiday together — creating beautiful, lasting memories while Erin still can.
Erin isn’t asking for a miracle — she knows there’s no cure in time for her. She’s simply asking for more time. More ordinary days. More little moments. More memories Evie can carry with her when Erin no longer can.
