Give Emily an awesome graduation present!

Hey everyone,

I'm Emily's older brother Patrick, and I decided to start this fund because Emily has gone through quite the series of hardships and challenges this year, and she deserves an awesome high school graduation gift (hopefully a trip, as she wants to travel).

Things started to get tough for Emily when she began to take care of our niece Karleigh more and more, acting almost as a mother to her when Karleigh moved into the house. Emily found herself less able to live the life of a high schooler, taking care of the needs of a toddler. When there wasn't enough room in the house and tensions were high, Emily began staying at friends' houses to give space for others. Emily then moved into our grandfather's house to help take care of him after his stroke. Due to an accident, our grandpa's house burned down, and many of Emily's possessions with it. She took this in stride and I didn't hear the tiniest complaint from her. Shortly after this, our sister, Karleigh's mom, was in a terrible car accident and was hospitalized for months, during which time Emily's role as a stand-in mom has only increased, including taking Karleigh to daycare every morning before heading to school.

Through all of this, Emily has retained her positive outlook and is still looking for ways to give of herself. She is a wonderful example of self-sacrificial love.

Emily will graduate this spring, and hopes to begin a degree program in creative writing and/or education, and since she has always wanted to travel I wanted to help her have the best graduation present we could manage.
