Give Ed Pos and Dana Hickerson Time Together

Ed and Dana are facing severe health and life crises.
They need our help, love and contributions to cover the home health care costs for them to spend some of the time they have left together in their Santa Cruz/Soquel CA home.
All funds collected are managed by Ed's sister Lida, with all contributions used for home health care.
Dana has been battling aggressive cancer for four years. Ed is in constant pain from nerve damage that affects his feet, legs, and hands. Dana’s cancer was in remission and after careful consideration, they decided Ed should have the neck surgery that might allow him to hold a cup of coffee again. Two days after he went into the hospital Dana learned the cancer was back and had spread throughout her body. She was hospitalized for pancreatitis and an aortic dissection – both extremely painful, dangerous conditions.
Meanwhile, Ed got through the surgery, but recovery is much slower than expected. The traumatic surgical assault to his body has impeded his ability to swallow. A feeding tube was installed which became infected and had to be re-installed. Ed will need 24-hour care with daily therapy and continued care for six or more months. Dana had intended to be his primary caregiver but she may need palliative care in the not so distant future.
Without home health care Ed will be assigned to a re-hab facility and due to COVID-19 restrictions, they may not see each other again.
We need to give them some time together in the comfort and familiar surrounds of their home, no matter how long.
Your contributions will pay for in-home caregivers, ongoing physical therapy, and out of pocket expenses for chemotherapy medication.
Ed and Dana are soul mates. They are an inseparable couple who’ve lived a colorful life on two coasts. They can regale you with stories of homesteading back east, driving cross country on a magic bus, living on the “Hog farm” with Wavy Gravy in the '70s, and settling on the coast of California to raise a family and start a business.
It’s hard to see such a vibrant, devoted couple go through the hard times they are experiencing today.
Anyone who knows Ed and Dana knows that they are fiercely independent and hate to ask for help. It took a lot for Dana to say, “Yes, it might be time for a Go Fund Me Campaign”. Thank you for giving them a chance to hold hands through this stage of their life.
