My family is humbly asking for support during an incredibly difficult time. Earl, my stepdad, is preparing for his second major back surgery after months of debilitating pain that has left him unable to work or even stand for long. Despite the severity of his condition, he was denied disability due to it being labeled a “preexisting condition.” While insurance will cover the surgery itself, the loss of Earl’s income has created a financial strain that my parents simply cannot absorb.

Earl has already been out of work for six months, and his recovery is expected to take another 6–12 months. Physical therapy, spinal injections, and every other non-surgical option have been exhausted with no relief. My mom has been working 60–70 hour weeks just to keep them afloat, all while trying to support Earl through the pain and uncertainty.

They have explored every avenue for financial help, and this situation has taken an immense emotional and physical toll. Any contribution—no matter the size—will help them cover their basic expenses and give my mom the chance to work less so she can be home to care for Earl as he recovers.
