Give Duvelle a Chance at a Healthy Life
Donation protected
Duvelle was a stray cat in Providence RI who (as of August 14th) now has a happy, loving home with all the attention she could ever need. As a cat off the street she’s lucked out in too many ways to count, recovering from a bad flea infestation, surviving malnourishment, and finding a home when shelters are at capacity.
On August 21st she was diagnosed with a severe level-5 heart murmur, and she needs a cardiac work up to determine the next steps. While some heart murmurs are benign, others can be fatal, and have serious consequences for a cat’s health. She also can’t get surgery, including getting spayed, until this work up is done unless there’s an immediate risk to her life.
As a kitten who has already recovered from a life on the streets Duvelle deserves every chance at a future she can get. She’s smart, affectionate, and against the odds has found a forever family. She's truly the sweetest kitten and I'm yet to find somebody who doesn't fall in love with her instantly.
If you can't donate please share her story! Getting eyes on her case won't be easy. I've also put together a Google Drive folder full of the posters and promotional material I've designed in case anybody wants to print flyers on their own.
Thank-you to everybody who reads this, shares, and donates to her cause. We appreciate it more than words can say!
Update 8/23 - changed the original goal of $3,500 to $1750 after talking to more people about quotes! We’re yet to get a response from a hospital but the real number might be even lower! If this is the case, we’ll drop our goal again to more accurately reflect Duvelle’s needs. Thank you to everybody who has been reaching out and supporting us!
Update 9/2 - We have a vet appointment! We lucked out and managed to get a date in November from MSPCA-Angell. They just opened up a branch in Waltham which is a lifesaver since their Boston location is booked out into February.
The appointment fee is ~$270 and the echo is ~$580 so starting off at $850. They didn’t give me a quote for bloodwork but I’ve heard it’s usually around $250, so without medication or follow-up treatment we’re expecting it to be $1100 just for imaging. The rest of the donations are padding for whatever treatments or next steps might be, since we don’t have solid numbers on these yet. Regardless I am so very relieved we have tangible numbers on the table.
With almost $700 raised for her already I really can’t thank everybody enough. I’m beyond grateful Duvelle can have a home and a shot at a healthy life, and it’s only been possible thanks to support from all of you!!!
Update 9/22 - THANK YOU all for getting us over the halfway hump!!! It’s been such a relief to see this campaign working. I love this cat so much and there was nothing scarier than thinking I wouldn’t be able to give her the kind of help she needs. I really can’t put into words how much of a relief it is to know she’s going to get help. I’ve said it so many times but again, thank you all for your support, for sharing, donating, and talking about her needs. It means the world to us.
Any extra funds will be saved for her future medical expenses! This includes more imaging, treatment for her murmur, and future medical appointments.
