Her name is Dot Dot. She has a little white dot on her back, tabby ripples, and the softest white chin you've ever seen. But what you'd notice first are her big green eyes, the same eyes that changed my life.
It was 2020. I was depressed, lonely, and struggling during Covid. I walked into PetSmart and there she was, the only cat available for adoption, surrendered by her previous owner who had a terminal illness. She pressed her head against the glass when she saw me. I adopted her that day.
She didn't trust anyone at first. She must have been so scared and confused. But by the end of that first night, she curled up on my arm and we've been inseparable ever since.
For five years, Dot Dot has been my light. She got me through some of the hardest chapters of my life: through college, through loss, through uncertainty. I graduated from SFSU with a Computer Science degree. I've been working as an Amazon delivery driver while searching for work in IT. I do my best every single day.
And so does she.
When I found her tumor, I took her in immediately. The diagnosis came back cancer. She needs her mammary chain removed. The surgery costs $4,000 and I simply can't afford it alone.
She was there for me when I had nothing. Now she needs me.
If you can help even a little, it means everything. And if you can't donate, please share. Dot Dot deserves a fighting chance.
