An 8-year-old boy in ICU fighting for his life needs your help today.

My name is Emmanuel Ogaga A. , a close family friend of the Akpavie family. I am helping them raise urgent funds for their son, Derick Akpavie, an 8-year-old boy in Nigeria battling severe liver disease.

Derick’s condition has deteriorated quickly; he is now in the ICU at LUTH (Lagos University Teaching Hospital), with bills mounting daily. Doctors at LUTH have confirmed that the only hope for Derick’s survival is a liver transplant.

The family has been referred to Max Super Specialty Hospital in New Delhi, India, where the surgery can be carried out.

Hospital Estimate

The official hospital estimate for the transplant is $24,100 USD, which includes:

• Transplant surgery

• Hospital stay (21 days for patient, 8 days for donor)

• ICU care

• Consultations by treating doctors

• Basic investigations

• Routine pharmacy and consumables (up to INR 5 Lacs for both patient and donor)

• Food for patient and one attendant

• DNA test

Meanwhile, Derick’s parents are struggling to keep up with ICU bills at LUTH, which have already reached ₦3.4 million (~£1,900 / ~$2,300 USD). Every four days, a new bill of ₦1.2 million arrives, putting unbearable pressure on the family.

Parental Consent & Transparency

We are fully transparent with this fundraiser. Derick’s father has provided a signed consent letter, authorizing this campaign and the use of medical documents to raise funds for his son’s liver transplant.
