Help DeeDee Regain Her Independence with a Life-Changing Electric Wheelchair
Hi friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers—
We’re fundraising for our dear friend DeeDee, a brilliant, resilient soul who has weathered more than her fair share of hardship—and continues to fight for her independence every single day.
At just 18, DeeDee suffered a traumatic head injury that led to epilepsy, launching her into a lifelong journey with unpredictable seizures and health challenges. For years, despite uncontrolled seizures, chronic illness, and growing physical limitations, she managed to keep working off and on, always trying to show up for others, even while fighting her own battles.
Now in her 70’s, DeeDee faces a neuromuscular disease and neuropathy so severe she can’t feel her feet. Walking causes intense pain, and she wears braces on both legs. A devastating fall 16 months ago—another head injury on the same side—brought her life to a standstill. Since then, she’s had a resurgence of seizures, crippling migraines, cognitive decline, severe fatigue, and a loss of balance that’s left her unable to walk safely or reliably.
“I’m just not me anymore,” she says.
But here’s what hasn’t changed: her fierce desire to live life on her terms. To go to the grocery store without fear. To visit friends. To sit in the sunshine at her local park without worrying her chair battery will die or she’ll get stuck in the grass.
What She Needs
DeeDee currently has a heavy, outdated power chair that only gets 5 miles per charge and can’t handle uneven terrain. She recently tried a carbon fiber electric wheelchair that was light, foldable, airline-approved—and capable of going 25 miles on a single charge. It can handle gravel, grass, and curbs. At just 30 lbs, DeeDee can lift and maneuver it on her own—a huge step toward freedom.
This chair would allow her to:
• Safely run errands and get groceries on her own
• Visit friends and neighbors without fear of getting stranded
• Travel again and fly with confidence
• Reclaim her sense of independence, purpose, and dignity
The Goal
We’re raising $3500 to help cover the cost of this life-changing wheelchair. Every dollar helps—truly. Whether you can give $10 or $1,000, you’re helping DeeDee rebuild a life with more ease, freedom, and hope.
Even if you can’t donate, sharing this campaign means the world.
Let’s get our girl rolling again.
Thank you for reading, sharing, and believing in DeeDee’s right to a better life.
With deep gratitude,
