I am raising funds to help cover the end-of-life expenses for my oldest brother, David Hutchins. David’s passing has left our family shattered. He fought a long and painful battle with severe mental illness, a struggle that weighed heavily on him every single day. Despite that, he never lost his sense of humor. He was the type of person who could crack a joke in the darkest of moments, who could make you laugh when you wanted to cry. That was David—someone who carried so much pain inside, but still gave others a reason to smile.

To us, David was more than a brother. He was a son, a father, an uncle, and a friend. He was a piece of our family’s foundation, and losing him has left a hole that will never be filled. What hurts the most is knowing how much he was loved, even when he struggled to see his own worth. We want to make sure he is remembered for the love, laughter, and light he brought into this world—not just the battles he endured.

Unfortunately, with his passing comes the unexpected financial burden of funeral and burial costs. Our family was not prepared for this, and it is overwhelming in the middle of our grief. This fundraiser is to help us lay David to rest with the dignity and peace he deserves, without the heavy weight of financial stress holding us back from properly grieving.
