Daniel was a motorbike driver to support his wife and three kids in rural, southwestern Kenya. In 2015, he was struck by another motorbike and suffered a fractured tibia and fibula. Daniel was seen at a local hospital and had a large metal nail inserted into his tibia to stabilize it during the healing process.

Three years later, Daniel noticed an open wound with the tip of the nail beginning to protrude out. For 6 years, Daniel struggled to be seen for this, lacking the finances. He had stopped working years ago, and his wife abandoned him and his three kids.

In 2024, in a surgical outreach in a neighboring village, Daniel was connected with American-trained orthopedic and plastic surgeons who told him to come to Kapsowar Mission Hospital where he would be treated. He underwent a number of staged surgeries to remove the nail, correct his fracture, and repair his soft-tissue defects. He has since recovered medically, although remains struggling financially, forced to sell his bike to pay for his children's school fees.

Daniel thanks God for the staff at the hospital who have helped enable him to be able to walk again. He prays that the Lord will provide him with another opportunity to work, and has asked for help obtaining a new motorbike so he can continue to support his family.
